Mr. Leporati has been providing risk management and insurance consulting services for 23 years. In 1994, he entered the insurance industry as a Loss Prevention Specialist with Riscorp/Zenith Insurance, a regional workers’ compensation carrier. At Riscorp/Zenith, Dan performed field loss control consultations for Riscorp’s policyholders, including a book of over $5M in Temp Staffing accounts.
After a four-year stint of multi-line loss control with Safeco Commercial Insurance, Mr. Leporati was recruited by Protegrity Services, a regional workers’ compensation MGA to develop the platform for a risk management and loss control company called Pivotal Risk Management. Under Dan’s management, Pivotal Risk Management became a cutting-edge provider of loss control and safety consulting company servicing numerous employers, insurance agencies, carriers, public entities, self-insurance funds, and alternative staffing firms.
Mr. Leporati joined RiskAware in 2011 and has been managing the group as President since 2012. His focus has been to create and deploy new products and services tailored to workers’ compensation cost containment. Karen has worked in the insurance industry since 1981. She started with John Alden Life Insurance Company in Mini-Group Life and Health Underwriting Department and was then hired by State Farm in 1986. She obtained her General Lines Agent License (220) and a Life, Health and variable Annuities license (2-18). Karen sold and serviced both personal and commercial lines for State Farm through 1994 when she was hired by Riscorp/The Zenith. Karen worked in Underwriting until she converted her FL agent’s license to an all lines adjuster license in 1996 and transferred to the workers’ compensation claims department. In 2000, Karen was then offered a position with FCCI Insurance Group and worked there through 2010 when she accepted a position with The Hartford, now Sedgwick as a dedicated adjuster for a large Florida based PEO. Karen‘s adjusting expertise includes multi-state Workers’ Compensation claims handling, Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation claims handling, Catastrophic Claim handling, Claims Training Specialist, and Corporate Compliance Coordinator. Karen has handled audits on behalf of the carrier with various departments of insurance such as Florida and the Department of Labor. She is well versed in the areas of claims compliance and her jurisdictional experience has been in the states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, New York, New Jersey, California, and the Federal Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. Karen also worked as a Senior Business Analyst for Tropics, An Insurity Company as a Sr. Business Analyst based in Sarasota, Fl. She was a member of the product group and her role involved product management, requirements writing for the WC software offerings, and testing support for the implementation team with a focus on claims compliance such as EDI, NCCI, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services filing requirements. Karen joined RiskTransfer Insurance Agency in 2012 and is on the RiskAware team as Sr. Claims Consultant.
Angela Wade has been involved with worker’s compensation claims since 1995. She entered the insurance industry through Riscorp/Zenith as a medical only worker’s compensation claims adjuster. As her knowledge and experience advanced she successfully fulfilled many positions including senior claims representative, supervisor and claims manager. Her journey in the industry included claims positions at FCCI Insurance Group and SRS/Sedgwick. Prior to joining RiskAware in 2017, she was the exclusive claim specialist for several large companies in the Midwest, one of which housed her on-site to have immediate hands on and face-to-face interaction when worker’s compensation claims occurred. Angela maintains an All Lines Adjuster license and has obtained a Professional Claims Adjuster designation. She brings to the table a long history of worker’s compensation experience, expertise in workers’ compensation laws for the Mid-Western and North East states, persistence and drive to get the best results for our customers.
Mary Pearman has over 23 years of combined experience in the risk management, insurance, and PEO industries having worked with thousands of clients over the years to mitigate their overall insurance costs through various claims cost containment programs and best risk management practices.
While studying for an Associate of Arts degree at Manatee Community College, Mary started her insurance career at Riscorp Insurance Company later accepting a Senior Litigation position with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she spent almost four years handling national accounts such as Staff Leasing and Florida Power and Light. In 1999, she had the privilege of practicing claims under John Dubreuil managing receivership accounts at PBOA, a third-party administrator (TPA) in Sarasota Florida.
Prior to joining RiskAware, Mary held various positions in the PEO industry including Vice President of Risk Management, Director of Claims, and Senior Manager of Claims. While in these roles, she was responsible for overseeing the success of multiple workers’ compensation programs, teams of claim and risk professionals, streamlining policies and processes, ensuring profitability through sound partnerships, mergers & acquisitions combining various claims operations, Sarbane-Oxley (SOX) controls and regulations, and vendor selection and negotiation.
Mary holds her All Lines Adjuster license for Florida (ACA), and Legal Board Certification in Workers’ Compensation (CWCL). She successfully achieved Certification Institutes “Workers’ Compensation Risk Management Best Practices” 2005-2010. In 2013, she was awarded the Workers’ Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) Leadership Award. She has been recognized for presenting at American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) meetings, served as Treasurer for Workers’ Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) for three years, and currently serves as the President of Sarasota Bradenton Claims Association (SBCA) where she has held this position since 2016.
